About The Education Journey (TEJ)


Founded by Prof. Tejas Shyam (B.Tech IIT Bombay, M.Tech IIT Bombay) in 2016, 'TEJ' stands for the effulgence of knowledge. At TEJ, it is our endeavour to make the process of Education a wonderfully interesting journey - one that students enjoy, explore and benefit from. Our pedagogy is student centric, and our mission is to "Help every learner understand and achieve their potential". We firmly believe that experiential, explorative, understanding-based conceptual education is most important for young minds.

We conduct Chemistry, Physics and Maths Tutorials for students in Mumbai for various competitive entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced and NEET. While we have been conducting both online and offline lectures, we've gone completely online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We offer Live Online Chemistry, Physics and Maths Lectures for JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET and other Competitive and International Exams.

In keeping with our idealogy that experiential, explorative, understanding-based conceptual education is most important for young minds, we conduct Foundation Builder courses in Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Maths for students of Grade 7, 8, 9 and 10.

Additionally, for the students who wish to delve deep into Physics, Chemistry and Maths and challenge themselves to achieve academic distinction in the various Olympiad Exams such as NSEJS, INJSO, NSO, NSEC, IMO, HKIMO, AIMO, etc. we also conduct Olympiad Training Programs. These lectures train the students rigorousy in advanced Physics, Chemistry and Maths so that they can crack the various Olympiads. The preparation for olympiads such as NSEJS, INJSO, NSO, NSEC, IMO, HKIMO and AIMO additionally helps students do well in many other exams and gives the student sound subject fundamentals that hold them in good stead in Grades 11 and 12. We also specialize in training for the AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12 and Mathematics Examinations conducted by the University of Waterloo, Canada.

The Advanced Placement (AP) Exams have become very popular in India due to a large number of students wanting to study abroad post grade 12. We offer courses for AP Physics, AP Chemistry and AP Calculus (both AB and BC) preparation.

The Chemistry, Physics and Maths lectures (online and offline), Foundation Builder courses, Olympiad and AP Exam Training are all conducted personally by Prof. Tejas Shyam. Tejas Sir, as he is fondly called, has been hugely popular with students due to his unique teaching methodology that makes learning fun while simultaneously focussing on conceptual understanding. He has been instrumental in helping many students achieve coveted academic milestones.

Fundation Course in Science and Maths

Grades 7, 8 and 9 are the stepping stones to the world of Science and Maths. In keeping with this, we offer a very unique 'Foundation Course' in Science (Physics and Chemistry) and Maths to students in these grades. This course can be taken by students studying in any education board - be it ICSE, CBSE, IGCSE, State Boards or IB.

Our focus isn't simply to make a child memorize and rote learn. This Foundation Course is meant to enhance the students' logical thinking, analytical reasoning, subject knowledge and simultaneously develop an interest in the subjects. The core focus will be to get the student to appreciate and understand the subjects. Hands-on, experiential learning is the central theme and main objective of this course. At the end of this Foundation Builder program the student will gain a much better subject understanding in Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Founder Profile

Founder, Mr. Tejas Shyam Mr. Tejas Shyam is a B. Tech (with Honours), IIT Bombay & M. Tech (IIT Bombay). He has qualified the CSIR NET Examination in Chemical Sciences (AIR 25).

After a brief stint with the corporate world at the beginning of his career, he decided to take a full-time plunge to pursue his passion – Teaching. After working with several notable coaching institutions in Mumbai, he started “The Education Journey (TEJ)” in 2016, where he has been teaching, mentoring and guiding students from the age group from Grade 7 to 12 in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for various competitive and other exams.

In recognition of his contribution to the field of Education and Entrepreneurship, he has been awarded the "Sardar Patel Excellence Award 2023" for Education and Entrepreneurship ,"100 Most Influential Coaching Leaders (India)" at the Times Ascent Presented World Coaching Congress Awards, 2023, the "10 Most Influential Edupreneurs of the Year 2023" by the Education View Center for Excellence, the “Dynamic Teacher of the Year” at the National Education Brilliance Awards, 2021, the “Asia Pride Award” 2021 by the International Humanity Mission Organization, the “Best Progressive Edupreneur of the Year 2020” at the International EDUx Awards, 2020 and the “Best Teacher of the Year” in Maharashtra at the Progressive Academic Excellence Conference, 2019.

Tejas has been given the honour of being a columnist with DNA India, with his weekly column titled Ed-Master.

A Certified Entrepreneurship and Business Coach, Tejas is a Visiting Faculty member at Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (one of the top B-Schools in India), where he conducts courses in "Entrepreneurship" and "Innovation Management" for students in MBA programs. He was also a Visiting Faculty member at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, where he was the trainer for the 'Certificate Course in Entrepreneurship'.

A Thrice TEDx speaker, his talks on “Education is not equal to information” (TEDxCRCE,2015), “Learning anything super-quick is SIMPLE” (TEDxSFIT, 2020) and “Sustainable Design” (TEDxStMirasCollege, 2022) have been widely acclaimed by students, parents and teachers. Tejas is also a Teacher Trainer, and conducts teacher development workshops and webinars.

Apart from teaching, he is also a Consultant in the Precious Metals domain. His research and review papers have been published in International journals.

Tejas believes that education is a tool for empowering the mind and hence educational methodologies must develop thinking skills, problem solving skills and a core sense of subject appreciation in students. With the rapidly evolving education landscape, he is a firm proponent of synthesizing the elements of traditional pedagogy together with digital learning tools to create a progressive yet adaptive education system that caters to the learning needs of the students and helps them derive maximum value from the process of learning.
